Being able to bring a child into this world is truly a blessing all by itself, but being able to deliver more than one is a true miracle.
A 29-year-old mom from Australia thought she was going to have twins only to discover there were actually three heartbeats.
Sammi Edes was extremely happy when she discovered she was carrying triplets. Her babies were identical and the doctor told her that the odd of delivering identical triplets was one in sixty thousand.
Although she was filled with excitement by the thought of having triplets, she knew the journey wasn’t going to be easy.
During her 20th week of pregnancy, the doctors told Edes that one of her babies wasn’t developing like the rest. One of the triplets, Thomas, was only getting a tiny portion of blood, oxygen, and nutrients while Geoffrey and Hunter were getting the lion share.
Sadly, that meant that Edes should terminate Thomas’s pregnancy otherwise he could affect the growth of his siblings.
That, however, was not an option for the 29-year-old. She was determined to do everything in her power to keep the pregnancy.
At week 30, Edes gave birth to her miracle bundle of joy. All her three babies were perfect and healthy and Edes couldn’t wait to hold them tight in her arms.
Doctors, however, couldn’t understand how Thomas managed to survive and get to week 30.
Mom shares a photo of placenta to show how miraculous his pregnancy was
To show how miraculous Thomas’s survival was, the doctors painted Edes placenta with three different colors. Each color showed how much nutrients each baby was getting.
Thomas’s color was yellow and it clearly showed how he was getting little nutrients from his mother compared to his brothers.
Edes later shared the placenta photo on Facebook and it caught the attention of many people across the globe.
She captioned it: “I thought I would share this picture with all of you guys as it’s something we as mums don’t really ever get to see and this is our babies’ lifeline when inside us. It’s pretty amazing to think that was keeping them alive.”
Edes truly made the right decision not to terminate little Thomas’s pregnancy. Thomas’s survival is truly a miracle and the placenta photo is nothing like I have seen before. Please share this story with your friends on Facebook.
