After becoming the first mum in Britain to give birth to 10 boys in a row, Alexis Brett had resigned herself to life in an all-male household. However, now the 39-year-old mom is finally not the only girl in her house as she has just given birth to her 11th child – a baby girl!
Alexis couldn’t believe it when she was told she was pregnant with a girl. Too excited to wait until their delivery date, Alexis and her husband David traveled 50 miles to a clinic which could confirm her baby’s gender immediately.
“I’d been expecting to hear we were having another boy. But when I found out it was a girl, my face was a picture. I was shocked, but delighted. Now she’s here with us, it’s a fantastic feeling,” she revealed to the Mirror.
The baby girl, Cameron, has already had an incredible effect on her ten brothers who are aged between 2 and 17 years old. “They’ve generally been much better behaved around her. Trying to keep quiet in case they wake her up. They also want to help with holding and feeding her – it’s been great.” Their dad said.
An overjoyed Alexis reveals she would have been just as happy if her 11th child was a boy as all her boys are special to her. “We’re asked a lot if we had so many children because we were hoping for that elusive girl. I can honestly answer ‘no’. Cameron wasn’t planned, but I was happy all the same,” she said.
Despite all these boys running around the house Alexis hates mess and does 49 laundry loads a week and vacuums every day.
The couple say baby Cameron marks the completion of their family, which includes Campbell, 17, Harrison, 16, Corey, 14, Lachlan, 11, Brodie, nine, Brahn, eight, Hunter, six, Mack, five, Blake, three, and Rothagaidh, two.
“We’re definitely stopping now. There’ll be no more. I said that last time, but this time I absolutely mean it. I love my family as it is now. I’d never planned to have a large family, but now I do, I love it.” Alexis said.
Alexis, a part-time fitness instructor, said she’s having lots of fun buying pink things for the first time. “I always joked I wouldn’t have a clue what to do with a girl… that’s all changed. We’re having a lot of fun buying pink things for the first time.” She said.
What a beautiful family the Brett’s are! We wish them all the best as they enjoy loving on their newest addition.
