TV talent show America’s Got Talent always brings out some really huge talents out to the world. As season 14 premiered yesterday, musician Kodi Lee who is blind and has autism absolutely blew all the four judges away with his phenomenal performance that earned him a golden buzzer!
The 22-year-old Kodi Lee walked on stage with his cane in hand and assisted by his mother, Tina. She told the show’s judges that her son loved music “really early on.”
“He listened and his eyes just went huge and he started singing,” she said. “I realized he’s an entertainer. Through music and performing, he was able to withstand living in this world because when you’re autistic, it’s really hard to do what everybody else does… “It actually saved his life playing music.”
Mom Tina helped her son to the piano then he performed a rendition of “A Song for You” by Donny Hathaway.
From the very first line that Kodi Lee sang out, the judges jaws dropped! They were all so stunned nobody could utter a word. A few seconds in, and some of the judges were literally in tears!
By the time Kodi Lee was finishing his phenomenal performance, all the judges and the audience rose to their feet in applause.
“What just happened there was extraordinary,” judge Simon Cowell exclaimed.
“I’m going to remember this moment for the rest of my life.” He added.
Judge Gabrielle Union hit the Golden Buzzer, meaning Kodi Lee will advance straight to the live shows.
Kodi Lee already has a few very famous fans too! After his performance, Oprah Winfrey tweeted that she actually “stood up and cheered in my living room.”
“I dare you to watch this new ‘America’s Got Talent’ audition and not cry!!!!” tweeted Perez Hilton.
