“Last week, a friend posted an image of the cat in our cleft moms group. This kitty was taken in by a rescue group in Minnesota. We knew immediately that this kitty was meant to be part of our family. Not only does he have a cleft lip like our 7-year-old son Madden, he also has complete heterochromia iridum, like Madden. They were destined to be best friends. Funny how a pet can make you feel less alone.
Heterochromia iridum is when a part of the iris has at least two colors. Complete heterochromia iridum, where the eyes are complete different colors all together, is quite rare, existing in less than 1% of the population, I’m told. That plus the cleft lips, is exceptionally rare. We have friends that kindly helped fund a road trip so that we could travel from Oklahoma to Minnesota to adopt this sweet kitty and bring him home.
We’re usually not spontaneous people, but we knew that we were meant to love this kitty. Moon, the kitty, and Madden are the perfect companions for each other. In a word full of bullies and hateful words, we will choose to chase love. I think it’s safe to say that this kitty is love, and was certainly meant to be part of our journey and Madden’s journey.
I’m stunned at how this all played out. It sounds silly, but fate willed these two together. There’s no other explanation. This kitty was so far away from us. I’m amazed that we found out about him, and even more amazed by the friends and strangers that helped us get to him, and adopt him.
Everyone needs a friend, and everyone needs to feel understood. I’m so thankful Madden has Moon. Not only so that both he and the kitty have a relatable and sweet companion, but also, I hope Moon helps Madden realize that being born unique in an incredible thing; that he is magic. These two handsome guys truly are a wonder.
I had no intention of our family getting attention from this at all, but if anything does get attention, I truly hope it benefits kids with cleft lips, if only to raise awareness.” Madden previously went viral for this inspiring anti-bullying video celebrating his differences after he was bullied on the school bus. Now he’s got a precious four-legged friend to reinforce just how special their differences make them.
“Don’t be mean to other people that are different. We’ve already been through a lot of hard stuff,” he proudly says in the video. “Show everybody kindness! You’re missing out on a lot of awesome people if you’re being a poophead to them. If somebody’s being mean to you, be nice to them. Because the most unlovable people need love the most.”
Madden’s mom further explained, “There were a few kids saying really ugly, mean things to him. It really broke his spirit and he had a rough year. The bullying still rears its nastiness once in a while, but the only thing we can do is try to change our perception on bullies, and try to change the way it affects us. Unfortunately, there will probably always be an unkind person that we’ll encounter. It will always sting and hurt, but we can’t control other people’s behavior, so we will just try our best to change our own mindset.
We’re full of shortcomings, just like every other human, but we will always try our best to show others kindness, even when we face our most difficult adversary, even when we’re standing up for ourselves, and even when we feel like being kind is the last thing we want to do in a difficult moment. I just want Madden, and our other two boys, to grow up to be good people, and have healthy mindsets.”
Heartbreaking Note Asks For Thief To Return Photos Of Dog’s Last Day Alive
People online are widely sharing a letter stuck to a lamppost in Toronto, Ontario, that has a heartbreaking request for a burglar.
The unknown writer says a man got in their house robbed them, taking their cash and their DSLR camera, but they don’t care about that. They only want the precious memories of their dog which they had stored in a memory card in the camera.
The sign reads, “To the man who was in my house and robbed me. Keep the cash, and my DSLR, and whatever else you took.
But if you have the memory card from the camera, please, it has photos of my dog’s last day alive on it. I cannot replace those photos.
Please throw it on to the porch or put it in the mail slot. Or mail it. Please. She died a few days ago. I cannot lose those photos as well.”
Being robbed is totally sickening, and the victim shouldn’t have to put up with any of their belongings being taken, but it shows just how much they love and care about their dog that the only thing they want back is those photos.
The internet was just as touched by the writer’s plea and people have been spreading the letter like wildfire on social media with hope that it might reach the thief.
A Facebook user, Saoirse Morgan, is one of the people who have shared the letter. On a post, Saoirse wrote, “Photo taken at Bloor and Lansdowne. This is simply heartbreaking. I hope this person does the right thing.”
The post was shared more than 27,000 times and has received lots of comments from people hoping the robber will be kind and return the memory card.
They say dogs are man’s best friend, and we could agree more. Once you have a dog in your life, they are not just your pet, they become family.
So you can imagine the pain and heartbreak this Ontario man must be feeling when the last memories of his furry best-friend were stolen from. We hope the thief gets to see this and does the right thing. Please share widely.
Huge Python Slithers Down Bathroom Light Just As Kids Were Brushing Their Teeth
A five- foot long python slithered out of a bathroom light as two children brushed their teeth before going to bed. The chilling incident happened at a home in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
The horrified family immediately called a snake catcher, Bryce Lockett, to remove the snake which was now hanging from the ceiling.
Lockett revealed that the children were quite shaken up but he was able to remove the snake and he eventually released it into a nearby creek after removing it from the home.
Lockett who also took photos of the python hanging from the lighting fixture said it was harmless.
“I’ve been catching snakes for about seven years now, I’ve seen them all in various situations. People are generally quite terrified of them but I’ve owned snakes my whole life so I’m not too fazed” Lockett said.
He further added that in Australia as many as one in three individuals have snakes hidden in their residences, but very few slither down light bulbs into households.
“Carpet pythons are nocturnal and coldblooded, which is why this one must have slithered down to enjoy the heat of the lamp – they’re harmless but they don’t like to be disturbed.” Lockett explained.
There was no word as to whether or not the kids could go to bed without getting nightmares after the incident.
Dog Was Surrendered To Shelter With 2 Garbage Bags Full Of His Bed And All His Toys
A dog named Wall-E, from the hit Disney movie, was first adopted from Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (MCACC) back in 2015.
Everyone was happy and thought that Wall-E had found his forever family and home. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The poor dog was returned to the same shelter three years later. With him, Wall-E had two garbage bags that carried his bed and all his toys.
The shelter explained in a post that the family’s decision to return the dog was a hard one, and that the family members were heartbroken and in tears when they dropped him off.
“This guy deserves a forever family who won’t give up on him. Please don’t bash his previous owners though. We don’t know the whole story. What we do know is the owner was heartbroken and crying. It was hard to finally help them leave. The staff was crying with the owners. We don’t believe this decision was taken lightly.”
“He was surrendered by his family because they did not have enough time for him. He was very scared. In his kennel, he would bark and bark.” Jordan Bader, the manager of the shelter’s Facebook page, told The Dodo.
The shelter posted a picture of Wall-E with his belongings on their Facebook page with a plea for a new home for the poor dog. The heartbreaking picture went viral.
“Here is Wall-E when he was getting surrendered by his owner. They brought all his stuff.. like it was gonna be there with him 2 months later in his kennel.” The staff wrote on the picture.
Two months after the picture was posted, a woman, named Lynn Lee, saw the post and heard about Wall-E’s story.
Lynn Lee made her way to the shelter and met the viral star. She fell in love with Wall-E instantly and decided to adopt him immediately.
Lynn Lee even brought her other dog along who formed an instant friendship with his new brother. Now, Wall-E has a home with a beautiful family that adores him.
