Jackson’s team of doctors did a tremendous job taking care of him. Led by his neurosurgeon Dr. Daniel McNeely who did something wonderful just before Jackson’s last surgery that people around the world can’t stop talking about.

After being diagnosed with a cyst on his brain along with a chronic condition called hydrocephalus, 8-year-old Jackson spent most of his life as a baby in and out of hospital. This kind of life might have been tough on him but his teddy bear helped him to cope.

Since Jackson was diagnosed with his condition as baby, Dr McNeely cared for him. Jackson brought along his teddy bear to the operating room before his latest surgery.

The little boy asked his neurosurgeon if he would be willing to do him a favor and not just operate on him, but on something else. His beloved teddy bear.

The doctor could not say no. So he agreed to perform surgery not just on Jackson, but on his teddy bear, too, he told CTV News Atlantic.

“I thought if there was something I could do to help make him feel better, it seemed like a simple gesture and I was only too happy to oblige.”

The nurses were asked to prepare a small surgical table with a few necessary tools. The doctor then used leftover stitches from Jackson’s surgery on the bear.

Rick McKie, Jackson fathers could not hold back his feelings and praised Dr. McNeely for his act of compassion to his son.

“He’s one of the nicest human beings I’ve ever met.”

When Jackson came out of recovery, he was excited to find his favorite teddy bear has been stitched up. The teddy bear’s surgery happened to be Dr. McNeely’s first on a toy and he good-naturedly shared them on social media.

“Patient asks if I can also fix teddy bear just before being put off to sleep … how could I say no?”

“I thought it might make a few people smile, that was the only intention I had. I’m glad that others are enjoying it.”
