Groom Saves Drowning Boy During Wedding Shoot

Clayton Cook had just married his wife Brittany, but he had to take one more leap into a lake to save a drowning boy.

CTV News reports the Cambridge, Ontario, couple were having their pictures taken post ceremony on Friday when a young boy was pushed into the water. According to BBC report, the incident happened at Victoria Park Lake in Kitchener, Ontario.

“While I was taking solo pictures of the bride this little guy was pushed into the Lake behind me by another child,” read a Facebook post by the photographer Hatt Photography. “By the time the bride noticed and shouted out, Clayton had already jumped down and brought him to safety.”

Asked by CTV News what caused him to act, Clayton described. “His face was underwater and he was fighting, like he was really fighting,” he told CTV News. “Luckily, he was only a little guy… and honestly just sort of hopped him up.”

At first, Brittany thought her husband was joking, she told BBC. “We’d like to think most people would probably make the same choice,” she told BBC.

For the internet’s sake, photographer Darren Hatt was able to snap some memorable photos of the heroic save. “When I first saw what was going on, my first priority was to assess the situation and I saw that Clayton had things under control,” he said. “But once I saw that the boy was out, I just fired off a few quick snaps from my hip, not even really expecting them to turn out. But they did, and I think they beautifullycaptured a moment that my couple will certainly never forget.”
