What is the secret to living a long life, say maybe past 100 years old? This is one question most of us would absolutely love to know the answer to! For Ruth Hilliard, her secret is pretty simple, and it doesn’t involve too much effort. All you have to do is believe in God.
Ruth Hilliard, a North Carolina resident, turned 106 years old on June 5th. She has one son, three grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Having been born on June 5, 1913, Ruth Hilliard didn’t experience technology growing up. At least it wasn’t as developed as it is today. During her time, things like stoplights, Band-Aids, ballpoint pens and microwave ovens hadn’t even been discovered yet.
Ruth was a teacher, both at school and at her church. To date, she still encourages young people to take their education seriously and do well in school.
The biggest lesson we can all learn from this former teacher is to keep faith in God. Ruth believes it’s because of her faith in a higher power that she’s been able to live so long.
Ruth Hilliard’s eyesight is not as good as it once was, but she still recites bible verses on a regular basis.
Ruth also says that she has been given 106 years of life to experience the importance of her favorite bible verse, Psalms 91:15-16. It reads:
“He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
Thank you for sharing your secret to long life Ruth, Happy birthday and may God always bless you.
