Parents pay for their son’s life-changing surgery after he was a victim of bullying

Tim and Kallie, parents of a 6-year-old first-grader, paid for their son’s life-changing surgery after falling victim to bullying.
Other kids at school bullied Gage because of his protruding ears, which broke his heart each time he went to school.
Gage’s parents decided to take him for surgery to fix his ears because they couldn’t stand seeing him sad and feeling different from other kids.
His parents believed that the surgery would help stop the bullying.
“He just gets really down on himself and he thinks, ‘I’m not good enough,’” Callie told CNN.
“I just don’t want to be made fun of,” Gage said.
Thankfully, plastic surgeon Steven Mobley fixed Gage’s ears, and he was finally confident with the way he looked.
“They often get some not-so-nice names stuck to them, like ‘bat ears’ or ‘elf ears,’ and that sticks with them through middle school and high school,” doctor Mobley said.
After the surgery, when Gage looked at the mirror, he couldn’t believe his eyes. His reaction was, “Oh my Gosh!” It was at that point that his parents and doctor realized they had done a good thing.
