At first glance, this picture simply looks like a beautiful photo of a happy newborn cuddled in his mother’s embrace. But it couldn’t be further from reality.
The tragic photos taken just hours before a teenage mom’s death show her cradling her newborn son who she didn’t get a chance to meet.
17-year-old Teegan Barnard, unfortunately passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest during labour which left her brain dead.
The pictures were taken by Teegan’s heartbroken mom, Abbie Hallawell, so baby Parker can see them when he’s older.
“Seeing Parker in his mummy’s arms where he belongs has been so important to me.” Abbie revealed to Fabulous Digital.
“I put them together at every possible moment. Now she has gone we dress Parker in vests with his mom’s picture on. I want to keep her close to him always. We are all in terrible shock, I just want Teegan back. I didn’t realise my heart could break into a million pieces. I’ll never be the same again.” The devastated mom said.
Teegan who worked as a pizza chef on Hayling Island gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Parker, on September 9th this year weighing 9lb 9oz at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester.
However, she suffered complications during childbirth, including an internal bleed which led to cardiac arrest. Doctors performed CPR on the first-time mom, but she was left with brain damage.
Teegan was in hospital for a month, before her condition deteriorated and she passed away on October 7 with her family and her newborn son by her side.
Abbie, who’s just become a grandmother for the first time, will now raise baby Parker with the help of his dad, Leon Forster.
Describing her relationship with her daughter as more of ‘best friends than mother and daughter,’ Abbie revealed she was so heartbroken that Teegan wouldn’t be able to see her baby grow.
“She was so looking forward to being a mummy, she was so excited. She would have been the best mummy in the world. I think people got fed up with us talking about it all the time. She had so much love for him and didn’t even get to show him.” She said.
