The Connecticut Police department has issued an amber alert as they hunt for a missing a 1-year-old girl, Venessa Morales, who went missing from her home in Ansonia, Connecticut, where police found the dead body of an adult female.
The woman who was later identified as Venessa’s 43-year-old mother, Christine Marie Holloway, is believed to have been murdered, with blunt force trauma, according to reports.
Police are currently treating the case as a two-part investigation.
“This is a two-part investigation. First is a homicide investigation, the second is a missing child investigation. We have enlarged all of our resources to investigate this case. Our main focus at the moment is finding Venessa Morales and making sure she is safe.” Ansonia Police Chief Andrew Cota said at a press conference.
Police believe the mother’s murder and baby Venessa’s disappearance are connected and fear that little Venessa may be “endangered”.
Venessa is described as 2’2″ tall and weighing 17 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes, WFSB reported.
Her father, who did not live with the child, is cooperating with the investigation. The police have not yet identified him so as not to risk jeopardizing the case.
Law enforcement at various levels with state police and the FBI assisting Ansonia Police, who are leading the search.
