A real life Mufasa and Simba duo have been captured sharing a hug and cuddles in Kenya.
The adorable lion cub brought out his father’s softer side, as the father-son duo embraced in a touching hug and looked every bit the real-life version of Mufasa and Simba from the Lion King moment.
53 year old Sabine Bernert from Paris, was documenting wildlife in Maasai Mara, Kenya, when she captured the heartwarming moment.
Sabine said that before she captured the hug, the lion had been gazing across his territory as his cubs hid in the long grass behind him, pretending to attack him.
The photographer captured the moment in the early hours of the morning while documenting wildlife for a children’s book.
“The lion pretended he hadn’t seen the cubs until the last second, then they started to play joyfully. I especially love the moment when the male lion is hugging the cub softly. The contrast between his brute strength and his gentleness, the huge size of his paw very softly holding the little cub.” Sabine said.
“I was amazed by the way this huge lion was playing so gently with the cubs. They really looked like they were enjoying themselves and have fun. With the delicate light of the sunrise, it was a pure moment of grace.” She added.
As most of you will know, the film, Lion King, follows a young lion called Simba as he grows up to be King of the Pride Lands, helped along the way by two of his friends, Timon and Pumbaa, while his evil Uncle Scar tries to stand in his way. In fact, a remake of the Lion King is due to be released in a months time!
