A beautiful couple from North Carolina just celebrated their 82nd wedding anniversary and they are warming hearts across the world! The couple also just recently celebrated their 103rd and 100th birthdays within seven days of each other.
103 year old D.W. Williams, and Willie Williams, 100, enjoyed a well-deserved party at a north Charlotte church where they celebrated their wedding anniversary and birthdays by singing hymns with their friends and family.
“To see them at this age and still doing well, it’s just a blessing to have them here,” granddaughter, BJ Williams-Greene, revealed to Boston 25 News.
The couple are well on their way into the record books for the oldest living spouses by aggregate age. The record is currently held by a couple from Japan, 100-year-old Miyako and her husband, Masao Matsumoto, 108. The Japanese couple credit their successful marriage to her patience.
However D.W. and Willie reveal their secret to a long and happy marriage and it is pretty straightforward. The couple revealed they have no big secret to their success, “I don’t have no secret for that; just be nice to each other,” Willie Williams said.
Their granddaughter added that she does have an answer because her grandparents are her inspiration. “It’s communication and loving each other and working together. They are each other’s best friend,” She said.
According to Boston 25 News, the pair revealed that they have lived through wars, the Depression and the civil rights era.
How precious is it to find such true and long lasting love! Congratulations to the sweet couple and may God continue to bless them.
