Lamont Thomas may just be an angel walking among us! The single dad from Buffalo, New York decided to adopt 5 siblings all under 6 years old son they can grow up together.
Back in 2000, a gesture for a friend ended up inspiring Lamont to open up his heart to what is now his life mission. Speaking to Good Morning America, Lamont recalled, “In the beginning, I was helping out some friends. They had lost their child to the system. I went on and got certified and became a foster parent. I haven’t stopped since.”
And true to his word, Lamont who has 2 biological children has fostered more than 30 kids and adopted several others since 2000.
Lamont adopted twins Germayne and Tremayne in 2007. He then adopted Jamie and then a fourth named German.
Lamont then went on to adopt Michael, the first child he ever fostered. Michael said, “He was my third foster home and it ended up being my forever home. He [knew] my biological parents. Lamont never turned [a child] away. They either aged out or went back home to their own families.”
That is already quite amazing, opening up his heart and home to these children. But recently, Lamont came out of retirement for a special case.
He learnt that there were siblings who were in need of a home. The kids were actually children of one of Lamont’s former foster kids who had been taken into care as a result of neglect.
Lamont instantly decided to get re-certified as a foster parent and took the children, Zendaya, 5, Jamel, 4, Nakia, 3, Major, 2 and Michaela, 1, in.
“They had them in four different homes, four different cities. They were separated for over a year-and-a-half,” he revealed.
While it was no easy feat, Lamont managed to get all five siblings together and foster them for 2 years. Then, just last week, Lamont officially adopted all 5 siblings.
“I was fighting to keep back the tears. Every day I think about it, my eyes swell up. All that we endured to make this happen, it was something.
“They bring new energy to me. They’re lovable kids, very affectionate. They deserve to be raised as siblings, and that was my fight.” Lamont said.
Lamont hopes his story will inspire more people to foster and even adopt children in need.
You are truly a special and kind-hearted man Lamont. Those children are so fortunate to have you. May God bless you richly.
