Terminally Ill Dad Gets His Final Wish To Take His Daughter Down The Aisle

In a heartbreaking moment, a dying father finally got his dying wish fulfilled, as he escorted his daughter down the aisle on her wedding day while lying on a stretcher. 65 year old Pedro Villarin was bedridden after a year-long battle with advanced liver cancer, however, he was able to summon all his strength so he could walk his daughter, Charlotte, down the aisle on her wedding day.

The wedding had to be brought forward by two months, because of concerns that Mr Villarin would not live long enough to be present at the wedding especially since he had recently been admitted to hospital in extreme pain.

Mr. Villarin’s family hired an ambulance and a private nurse to take him to the ceremony which took place in Las Pinas, Manila, Philippines. Initially, the plan was for Mr. Villarin to escort his daughter in a wheelchair, but he was too weak and they had to put him on a stretcher instead.

Their relatives helped to pull the stretcher towards the altar while Mr. Villarin held onto his daughter’s hand to give her away to the bridegroom, Mark Cordova.

Newlywed Charlotte said, “This was really an emotional moment. My father’s one wish was to see his daughter married and we made it come true for him. It made the day very bitter-sweet. It hurt me knowing that he would be leaving us but I was happy that he was there. I am happy he could see me get married.”

“That wedding was really for him because he wanted to walk with me to the altar and witness my wedding. We hired an ambulance and a private nurse. We thought he would be able to sit on a wheelchair, but he couldn’t take it and used the stretcher from the ambulance instead. But he really sacrificed because he felt pain in that moment. And we thank God for allowing that to happen.” Charlotte added.

Sadly, Mr Villarin sadly passed away 3 days after the wedding.
