People who work in the hospitality industry can easily tell you how challenging it can be to deal with rude people. It is especially more challenging for waiters and servers at restaurants/hotels.
For Austin Simms, the level of rudeness displayed by nasty customers at the coffee shop where he worked became too much.
So the young man decided to give his customers a little lesson manners by putting up a sign outside the café in Roanoke, Virginia.
Now, his innovative idea to get customers to be more courteous and friendly has captured worldwide attention.
The sign reads: ”Small coffee $5”
”Small coffee, please. $3”
”Hello, one small coffee, please. $1.75”
The sign with the new prices at the cafe acts as a gesture to remind customers that the people standing behind the counter are humans with feelings. “I decided to start charging more for people who didn’t take the time to say hello and connect and realize we’re all people behind the counter.” Austin said.
It only took one day before Austin’s new price menu became world news with journalists and photographers flocking to the cafe. Austin never expected his new prices to attract such widespread attention, he just wanted his customers to be a little more kind!
We think Austin’s idea is incredible!
It really is important to remind us all that a little kindness goes a long way and some people may not realize how being rude and unkind could be affecting others. Share to remind others to be a little kind and nicer today.
