‘Top Chef’ star Naomi Pomeroy found dead in river at 49, days after disappearing

Renowned chef Naomi Pomeroy, celebrated for her culinary creativity and resilience, has tragically passed away. The Portland chef’s life ended after a tubing accident, leaving her loved ones and the culinary world in mourning.

Pomeroy’s body was found on July 17, days after she went missing during a tubing trip. Benton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Pomeroy, her husband Kyle Linden Webster, and a friend were caught in a dangerous situation while tubing and paddleboarding on the Willamette River.

The trio became entangled when their equipment got caught on a submerged object. Tragically, Pomeroy was pulled underwater and couldn’t free herself due to a paddleboard leash.

While rescue teams managed to bring Webster and their friend safely to shore, Pomeroy’s body was not immediately found. A search ensued, and her body was located by people canoeing the river, just half a mile from Hyak Park.

Naomi Pomeroy, 49, was a self-taught chef who rose to prominence in 2007 with her award-winning Portland restaurant, Beast. Her passion for food and unique approach earned her appearances on shows like Iron Chef and Top Chef Masters. She also appeared as a guest judge on Top Chef multiple times, leaving a lasting impression on the culinary scene.
