Charlie Kirk’s wife shared Bible verse just hours before his assassination

Erika Kirk’s final post before her husband’s death takes on new meaning as investigators search for answers in Utah shooting

Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed during a university event in Utah on Wednesday. Just hours earlier, his wife Erika had shared a verse from the Book of Psalms, words that now carry a weight she could never have imagined.

The 31-year-old conservative activist was speaking at Utah Valley University when he was struck by gunfire. The shooting, which was captured on video, left him critically injured. He was rushed to a hospital but later died.

President Donald Trump, calling Kirk a close ally, blamed what he described as “radical left rhetoric” for fueling political violence. He pledged to hold those responsible accountable, including groups he accused of supporting such attacks.

The FBI has set up a public tipline and confirmed that full tactical, investigative, and intelligence resources are being used in the search for the shooter. No arrests have been made.

Kirk is survived by his wife Erika Frantzve Kirk and their two children—a three-year-old daughter and a 16-month-old son. The couple, who married in 2021, had celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary in May.

Erika, a businesswoman and former Miss Arizona USA, has spoken often about her faith and family. She runs several initiatives, including a Christian ministry program and a nonprofit supporting smaller charities.

In past interviews, she described her wedding as a “very intimate” ceremony and often encouraged other young couples to focus less on the pageantry of weddings and more on the spiritual bond of marriage.

Her final post before tragedy

On the morning of the shooting, Erika posted a short verse on X:
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)

Hours later, her husband was killed.

Investigation continues

Police said the fatal shot came from the roof of the Losee Center, about 200 feet from where Kirk was sitting. An elderly man was initially detained but later cleared. Another person of interest was also questioned and released.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed ongoing cooperation between state authorities and the FBI.

In a tribute, President Trump ordered all U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff until Sunday evening.

For Erika Kirk and her children, the sudden loss has left a private family tragedy unfolding in public view, while the investigation into who pulled the trigger—and why—remains unresolved.
