Mother who had struggled with infertility for years surprises her friends after welcoming triplets

Around 20% of couples face challenges in conceiving at some point in their lives. This can be an incredibly tough and emotional period, but persistence and hope can lead to success.

Desiree and Ryan Fortin, who struggled to conceive for a long time, decided to try in-vitro fertilization (IVF). They hoped this method would help them achieve their dream of becoming parents.

Following the IVF treatment, Desiree became pregnant, which was a joyful moment for the couple. However, they were unprepared for the surprise that awaited them regarding the pregnancy.

Desiree and Ryan Fortin, a married couple since 2009, faced challenges in their journey to have a child. Desiree was diagnosed with the polycystic ovarian syndrome, hypothyroidism, and low progesterone, which made it difficult for her to conceive. The couple tried for three years without success, eventually deciding to attempt in-vitro fertilization.

However, their efforts with in-vitro fertilization were also met with disappointment as Desiree repeatedly experienced menstrual periods instead of positive pregnancy tests. This emotionally taxing period took a toll on the couple, as Desiree struggled with the reality of not being able to become pregnant.

“[Infertility] brought me more tears than I ever thought I could shed…. I lay on my bathroom floor in complete emptiness after countless negative pregnancy tests time and time again. I had to endure shots, bruises, and all kinds of meds because when you are infertile and you seek fertility treatment for help, that is what you are in for. [It is] expensive and exhausting physically, emotionally, and mentally.”

Desiree and Ryan were overjoyed when they found out that their initial IVF treatment was successful. Their excitement grew even more upon discovering they were expecting not just one, but three babies. However, their journey was far from over.

Despite finally becoming pregnant, Desiree faced concerns from doctors who warned she might not be able to carry all three babies to term due to her size and this being her first pregnancy. Undeterred, Desiree remained hopeful and proved them wrong with her determination.

The Fortin triplets were born in 2015, with Desiree giving birth at 34 weeks via C-section. The parents were ecstatic to welcome Sawyer, Jack, and Charlize, who each weighed over 5 pounds. Desiree faced some complications, which led to an unexpected separation from her newborns as they were sent to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

While Desiree underwent emergency surgery due to complications, Ryan stayed connected with her through FaceTime, allowing her to see their triplets. After spending two weeks in the NICU, the babies were finally able to go home and begin their lives with their loving parents.

Ryan and Desiree were overjoyed to have their three little miracles at home, seeing it as a tremendous blessing. They looked forward to their journey as a family of five.

”We are blessed, but parenting is also a hard job filled with the greatest of responsibilities — caring for tiny humans. Our babies have severe reflux and colic — times three. Getting into a routine is difficult, as is maintaining your relationship amid crying babies, sleepless nights and a new routine,” Desiree said.

Today, the triplets are thriving alongside their loving family. Their lives and various experiences can be found on their mother, Desiree’s, Instagram account. With 149,000 followers, the account has become a popular destination for those interested in following the family’s journey.

Desiree expresses her surprise and gratitude at the impact their story has had on so many people, noting that it has been an amazing experience. Through their social media presence, they’ve managed to touch countless lives and share their unique experiences with others.

In addition to providing updates about the triplets, Desiree has also shared some exciting news: she and her husband, Ryan, are expecting another child! Soon enough, this charming family of five will grow into a family of six, and their followers will be able to witness it all unfold.
