The Carters’ love story is one for the ages, beginning in their childhood in the small town of Plains, Georgia. Their journey together spanned decades, including their time in the White House from 1977 to 1981.

Rosalynn, who passed away at the age of 96 on November 19th, was more than a First Lady. She was a dedicated humanitarian, continuing her work well after her time in Washington through the Carter Center.

The loss of Rosalynn marked a poignant moment, especially for Jimmy, whose health has also been declining. According to their grandson Jason Carter, while speaking to the New York Post, Rosalynn was not just a partner but a pillar of strength for Jimmy. He shared, “He has been this moral rock for so many people, but she really was that rock for him.”

One of the most touching parts of the memorial service was when their daughter, Amy Carter, read a letter written by Jimmy to Rosalynn during his Navy days. His words, “My darling, every time I’ve ever been away from you, I have been thrilled when I returned to discover just how wonderful you are. When I see you, I fall in love all over again,” resonated with the deep love and respect they shared.

As we remember Rosalynn Carter, we also send thoughts and prayers to the Carter family during this difficult time.
