In “Homicide,” Braugher’s portrayal of Det. Frank Pemberton earned him widespread acclaim and his first Emmy in 1998. His role as Capt. Raymond Holt in the comedic series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” further showcased his talent, bringing him four Emmy nominations. Throughout his career, he was nominated for 11 Emmys, winning a second time for the 2006 miniseries “Thief.”
During the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, Braugher shared his insights with Variety, reflecting on the influence of his roles as fictional police officers.
