She was 34 and a seasoned driver, but one fateful day changed it all

Courtney Ann Sanford, a 34-year-old experienced driver, tragically died in a car accident caused by distracted driving. While driving, she listened to Pharrell Williams’ song “Happy” and decided to share her joy on social media.

Courtney took a selfie and posted it with the caption, “This song makes me happy!” Unfortunately, this brief moment of distraction had deadly consequences.

Just a minute after her post, Courtney’s car crashed into a truck at about 60 km/h. The impact sent her vehicle into a ditch and then into a tree. The car caught fire, and sadly, she did not survive.

Law enforcement reported that the Facebook post was made at 8:33 AM, and they received the emergency call at 8:34 AM.

This tragic incident underscores the critical importance of not texting while driving. Distracted driving endangers not only the driver but also passengers, pedestrians, and other road users. Driving requires full attention and is a serious responsibility.
