Donald Trump dementia fears rise after doctor cites potential symptoms

Psychologist highlights signs including Trump's unusual walking pattern, raising questions about health and frontotemporal dementia.

Concerns about Donald Trump’s health are intensifying after psychologist Dr. John Gartner pointed to deteriorating motor skills and possible dementia symptoms, despite recent medical reports claiming he’s in excellent condition.

Donald Trump, the oldest U.S. president to start a second term, has repeatedly faced scrutiny regarding his health. A recent medical examination by White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella reported Trump as fully fit for duty, citing strong cardiac, pulmonary, and neurological health.

However, psychologist Dr. John Gartner has raised fresh concerns, highlighting specific signs suggesting Trump could be developing frontotemporal dementia—a neurological condition that affects both motor skills and behavior.

Official medical reports versus new concerns

In April, Dr. Barbabella’s official health assessment found no major issues, noting Trump’s “robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function.” Trump also emphasized his strong cognitive performance, declaring publicly that he passed every cognitive test administered.

Yet, new observations from Dr. Gartner challenge these official findings. Gartner suggests Trump’s movements, especially the way he walks, could indicate early stages of dementia.

Speaking on The Dean Obeidallah Show, Gartner described Trump’s walking style, noting a distinctive swing in his right leg, a known symptom of frontotemporal dementia. Gartner referenced past videos of Trump, emphasizing a clear decline in physical coordination compared to his younger days.

“We found footage of Trump playing volleyball in the 1980s, very coordinated and athletic,” Gartner said. “Now, he clearly struggles with balance, stairs, and shows an unusual leg swing that neurologists link to dementia.”

Additionally, the psychologist cited recent claims suggesting Trump might be concealing a catheter, which could also signal declining health associated with neurological conditions.

While official sources maintain Trump is healthy, Gartner’s observations have ignited further public debate about the president’s true condition, raising questions that might persist as he continues serving his second term.

As health discussions about public figures remain sensitive and speculative, evidence-based medical assessments and transparency are critical to maintaining trust among the American public.
