Fundraiser for homeless Nickelodeon actor sparks debate after unexpected outcome
Fans raise money for ‘Ned’s Declassified’ star Tylor Chase, but question how donations were used
A fundraiser for former Nickelodeon actor Tylor Chase — best known for his role as Martin Qwerly in Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide — has left fans divided after a viral video showed him receiving clothes and a haircut instead of the long-term help promised.
Influencer “Lethal” recently came across 36-year-old Tylor Chase living unhoused in Los Angeles and shared a video of their encounter. The footage showed the former actor disheveled and struggling, prompting an outpouring of concern from fans who remembered his Nickelodeon days.
Following the viral moment, Lethal launched a GoFundMe campaign that quickly reached its goal of $1,207. The fundraiser’s description promised to support Chase with “safe housing, food, basic necessities, and the resources he needs to get back on his feet.”

Fundraiser video shows makeover instead of long-term aid
In an update video, the influencer revealed how the funds were used during a single day spent with Chase. She purchased him new clothes, shoes, and a backpack, gave him a haircut, and washed his hair on the street, explaining, “It’s such a blessing for God to use me as a vessel to help bless someone.”
The clip ended with Chase, visibly emotional, thanking her and showing off his new clothes. However, some viewers criticized the limited scope of the assistance, noting that the video focused more on the makeover than on meaningful support such as housing or healthcare.

Fans express mixed reactions
While many applauded the influencer for her kindness, others questioned whether the funds could have been used more effectively.
“The update I was waiting for! Thank you so much! You are blessed forever,” one commenter wrote. Others, however, pointed out the disparity between the fundraiser’s promises and what was delivered.
Someone claiming to know Chase personally said in a message shared online: “Yes, Tylor needs medical attention, not money. But he refuses it. Money would not be a benefit to him. He can’t manage money or his meds by himself.”

Concerns about Chase’s well-being
In recent years, Tylor Chase has reportedly spoken openly about his struggles with bipolar disorder. Some fans speculated that untreated mental health issues may have contributed to his situation.
While many expressed frustration over how the fundraiser unfolded, others chose to focus on the positive — that at least some help reached him.
The story has reignited conversations about how best to support people facing homelessness and mental illness, especially those in the public eye. Despite the controversy, fans continue to hope Chase receives the professional help and long-term stability he needs.
