Hollywood’s former handsome star Alain Delon now leads a secluded life after stroke

Alain Delon, once celebrated as one of the world’s most handsome men, now leads a very different life away from the public eye. The 88-year-old French actor, famous for his role in “Flic Story,” suffered a stroke in 2019, just weeks after receiving an honorary Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Since then, he has retreated to his secluded estate, La Brûlerie, located near the village of Douchy-Montcorbon in central France, 140 kilometers southeast of Paris.

Delon’s estate, hidden behind a 2.3-kilometer stone wall, is not just his home but also where he wishes to be buried. The property includes a chapel and a cemetery he built, which is the resting place for over 30 of his beloved dogs, showing his deep affection for his pets.

While Delon’s main residence is in France, he divides his time between his workspace in Paris, an apartment in Geneva, and his home in Douchy. Despite his plans for his burial, Delon has been dealing with family disputes over his assets. His three children are involved in legal battles and public arguments over their father’s estate.

Delon’s lawyer, Christophe Ayela, has been working to mediate peace among the siblings, urging them to resolve their differences. Delon’s favoritism towards his daughter, Anouchka, adds complexity to the family dynamics. Delon has openly expressed his deep love for her, which has strained his relationship with his sons.

Anouchka recently shared a heartfelt tribute to her father on Instagram, updating fans on his condition. She praised his appearance and spirit, calling him “my own immortal” and reassuring fans with Delon’s message, “Don’t worry.” Fans and fellow actors, like Gilles Marini, expressed their support, urging her to stay by his side.

Despite their disputes, Delon’s children agree on the importance of their father’s wellbeing. In March, they requested that Delon be placed under “reinforced curatorship” for better medical and financial oversight, which was approved in April. The curator, whose identity is unknown, could be one of his children or Hiromi Rollin, Delon’s close companion.

With the curatorship in place, Delon will no longer make decisions for his company, Alain Delon International Diffusion SA, where he is President, and Anouchka is Vice President. Despite the family drama, Delon remains focused on his present and future, expressing his desire to make one last movie, which he hopes will be his best work yet.

Reflecting on his prime years, Delon fondly remembers his time as one of the most seductive men in cinema. His dedication to looking better than anyone else earned him widespread admiration and comparisons to cinema icons like Brigitte Bardot.

Brigitte Bardot, a contemporary of Delon, remains a revered figure. Known for her roles and confidence, she has also been a dedicated animal rights activist. Despite health issues, Bardot continues to inspire admiration with her resilience and enduring fame.
