“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my cousin, Ike Turner Jr.,” Bullock said. “Junior was more than a cousin to me, but rather a brother, as we grew up in the same famed household together.”

Born in 1958 to Ike Turner Sr. and Lorraine Taylor, Ike Jr. was adopted by Tina Turner when he was a child, along with his brother Michael.

After Tina and Ike’s separation, Ike Jr. worked as his mother’s sound engineer, later building a career in music production and engineering. “Tina raised me from the age of two. She’s the only mother I’ve ever known,” he told the Daily Mail in 2018.

However, their relationship reportedly became distant in later years. “I haven’t talked to my mother since God knows when – probably around 2000,” he said at the time.

From an early age, Ike Jr. showed a deep love for music. Initially drawn to drums, he later focused on keyboards and studio work. He managed his father’s Bolic Sound Studios and helped produce several blues and rock recordings.

“My father took me out of school at 13. I ended up running his recording studio, plus going on the road with them,” Ike Jr. recalled. “They made a lot of money on tour, and my father used to make me count it until my hands were grey.”

In 2007, he shared in his father’s Grammy win for Risin’ With The Blues, which took home the award for Best Traditional Blues Album.
