Julia Roberts steps out with her grown son — Fans can’t get over how much he looks like his dad

Julia Roberts was photographed walking arm-in-arm through Manhattan with her 21-year-old son, Phinnaeus “Finn” Moder, on June 25, 2026. Roberts, 58, wore a loose black button-down tucked into distressed denim shorts. Finn kept things casual in an oversized navy graphic T-shirt and olive shorts.
The photos, first published by Page Six, marked a rare public sighting for a family known for staying out of frame. It was also the second time in a week that Roberts had been seen with one of her three children.
Six days earlier, on June 19, Roberts was spotted outside the historic Jane Hotel in Manhattan’s West Village with her youngest son, Henry Moder, who had just turned 19. Her daughter, Hazel, joined them for the celebration. Finn, a student at UC Berkeley, was not there.
A family that mostly stays out of frame
Roberts has spent three decades in Hollywood keeping her children almost entirely out of the public eye. She met husband Danny Moder, a cinematographer, on the set of “The Mexican” in 2000. They married in a private ceremony at her Taos, New Mexico ranch on July 4, 2002. Roberts was previously married to musician Lyle Lovett until 1995.

The couple’s twins, Hazel and Finn, were born on November 28, 2004. Henry followed on June 18, 2007. All three are college students now: Finn at UC Berkeley, Hazel at Trinity College Dublin, and Henry at Pratt Institute in New York City.
Roberts has spoken about that choice directly. She told CBS Sunday Morning in 2022 that acting was a dream come true, but not her only one, and that the life she built with her husband and children was “the best stuff.” By the time she became a mother, she has said, she already felt secure in what she had accomplished in her career.
Growing up without knowing how famous their mother was
The couple married at midnight on July 4, 2002, in a ceremony kept secret from most of their own wedding guests. That same instinct for privacy appears to have shaped how Roberts raised her children.
In a 2018 interview, Roberts recalled her kids slowly realizing how well known she was. They eventually asked her whether she was more famous than a pop star they recognized. She has said she doubts they will ever fully grasp the scale of her fame, since it was never something discussed at home.
The June 25 photos spread quickly across social media. Much of the conversation shifted from the outing itself to how closely Finn resembles his parents. Several commenters said they mistook him for a younger version of his father.
Others pointed to features they said came from Roberts, including his coloring and his smile.
All three of Roberts’ children are in college now. Her rare public outings look less like anything staged and more like ordinary family life caught, briefly, on someone’s phone. For a woman who has spent three decades as one of the most photographed people in the world, a walk down a Manhattan sidewalk with her son may be exactly the kind of moment she has worked hardest to keep for herself.
