Jayne Mansfield’s career had its ups and downs. She worked in Hollywood, then in Europe, and also did stage shows. Her last tour ended in tragedy in 1967. She died in a car crash in Mississippi at 34. Mariska, who was in the car, survived the crash but it left a deep mark on her.

“Losing my mother at such an early age is the scar of my soul,” Mariska said in an interview. But she believes this experience shaped who she is now.
