Meghan Markle’s dance sparks fresh surrogacy rumors

New video of Meghan dancing before giving birth stirs speculation, but experts say the criticism may be unfair.

A joyful moment shared by Meghan Markle before her daughter’s birth has triggered a wave of online debate, with critics questioning whether she was ever pregnant at all.

To celebrate Princess Lilibet’s fourth birthday on June 4, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shared a heartfelt video from 2021. It showed the couple dancing in a hospital room in California, just before Meghan went into labor.

In the clip, they groove to “The Baby Momma Dance,” a popular internet trend at the time. Meghan explained in the caption that both her children arrived a week late, so she tried dancing to help induce labor.

But what was meant to be a sweet family moment soon ignited another round of rumors that Meghan may have used a surrogate.

While some viewers found the video touching and relatable, others jumped to criticize. A number of social media users claimed Meghan’s baby bump looked “fake” or “stuffed.”

“She’s not pregnant,” one person bluntly stated. Another wrote, “A heavily pregnant woman cannot move like that.”

But not everyone agreed with the harsh judgment. One supporter commented, “Imagine being so salty about someone else’s pregnancy… This was a trend. She’s not the only one dancing round in the hospital.”

Every pregnancy is different

Doctors and childbirth experts say the criticisms aren’t based on medical fact. Dr. Charlsie Celestine noted that pregnant bellies can look very different depending on the person.

“There is no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to a pregnancy belly,” she explained.

Dancing during late pregnancy isn’t unusual either. In fact, it’s encouraged by many professionals to ease labor pain and help start contractions naturally.

Why do these rumors keep coming up?

Speculation around Meghan’s pregnancies isn’t new. When Prince Archie was born in 2019, critics were already spreading surrogacy theories. The couple changed hospitals last minute and waited two days to show Archie to the public—choices that fueled suspicion.

Meghan’s estranged half-sister, Samantha Markle, added fuel to the fire last year by claiming Meghan retrieved frozen eggs shortly before Archie’s birth. “If they used a surrogate, admit it,” she said in an interview.

Royal commentator Lady Colin Campbell also accused the Duchess of creating “mystery” and called for clarity on the matter.

The ongoing scrutiny of Meghan Markle reflects more than just curiosity about royal births—it highlights the harsh spotlight she lives under. Many believe the constant questioning of her motherhood crosses a line.

“People need to stop policing women’s bodies,” one online supporter said. “Whether she danced or not, that’s her story, her moment.”

Others point out that no official evidence has ever supported the surrogacy rumors, and repeated attacks may say more about public bias than truth.

At the end of the day, Meghan and Harry’s video was meant to celebrate their daughter’s birthday—not invite judgment.

Whether you believe the rumors or not, one thing is clear: the debate reveals how easily public opinion can overshadow personal joy, especially for high-profile families.

What do you think? Should private family moments be left alone, or do public figures owe more transparency?
