Mack Hollins showed up at Super Bowl LX in shackles and a maroon prison jumpsuit, turning heads and sparking conversations long before kickoff.

Before a single play was made at Levi’s Stadium, New England Patriots wide receiver Mack Hollins had already stolen the spotlight. Dressed in a maroon prison jumpsuit, shackles on his wrists and ankles, a face mask covering his mouth, and no shoes, his entrance to Super Bowl LX looked more like a scene from a movie than a football game.

While fans were used to his shoeless habit, the full getup — shackles and all — was a surprise that quickly went viral.

Hollins wasn’t arrested or in trouble — it was all part of a performance. The look seemed to be a mix of personal statement, showmanship, and irony. With his unique philosophy and lifestyle choices, it fit right into who Hollins is.

Some saw it as a bold expression of individuality, while others compared it to something straight out of Silence of the Lambs. Regardless of the interpretation, it got people talking.

Going shoeless is nothing new for Hollins. He’s often seen walking around — or even practicing — without shoes, no matter the weather. In a 2023 interview, he explained his reasoning:

“Everyone should be barefoot,” he said. “Shoes are definitely dirtier than feet.”

He believes being barefoot helps strengthen the feet, ankles, and knees. He even credits it with helping him feel more “grounded” through something he called “free electrons from the body.”

During warmups before the game, Hollins stayed true to form, barefoot and wearing a jersey from Walsh Jesuit High School — a nod to Patriots coach Mike Vrabel’s alma mater.

Shoes aren’t the only thing Hollins skips. He also avoids vegetables, prefers eating with his hands over using utensils, and doesn’t use wireless headphones. To him, these choices are about living authentically.

“That’s who I am,” he told Spectrum Sports Net in 2024. “Do the things that make you happy in life. Life’s too short to be worried about what other people think.”

While Hollins’ entrance wowed fans, the Patriots didn’t deliver on the field. The Seattle Seahawks dominated the game from start to finish, stopping New England’s offense and securing their second Super Bowl title.

That left the Patriots just shy of earning a record-breaking seventh championship.

Mack Hollins might not have left the Super Bowl with a ring, but he certainly left with the spotlight. In a world where athletes are often told to fit a mold, Hollins continues to stand out by being unapologetically himself — barefoot, bold, and completely unbothered.

Whether people cheered or scratched their heads at his appearance, one thing is certain: no one will forget how he walked into Super Bowl LX.
