Prince Harry and Meghan ‘probably won’t’ have another baby
The royal couple is happy with their two children and isn’t planning for a third, sources say.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are fully focused on raising their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, and despite ongoing rumors, the couple seems firm on not having a third child. In a recent interview, Harry confirmed their stance, emphasizing that two children are enough for them.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children are growing up away from the royal spotlight in their California home. Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2, are still too young to understand the public scrutiny surrounding their parents. However, as they get older, they may start asking questions about their family’s complicated relationship with the British monarchy.
Since stepping down as senior royals in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have focused on their personal projects and business ventures. Meghan is preparing to launch her new Netflix cooking and lifestyle show, while Harry remains dedicated to the Invictus Games, which supports wounded veterans.
With their hands full balancing work and family, many have wondered if the couple plans to have another child. Harry recently addressed the speculation, making it clear where they stand.
“Two kids is enough”
During an interview with CTV at the Invictus Games in Vancouver, Prince Harry spoke candidly about his experience as a father. When asked about expanding his family, he responded with humor and honesty.
“I think one or two kids is probably enough… I definitely think that,” Harry said. “I know some people who’ve got five. I just say, ‘Well, that’s your own fault!’”
He continued, reflecting on his journey as a parent:
“Having kids is amazing, but it is… it’s a journey every single day, every single week, they just grow, and they change. I love the questions that they ask and the experiences and the challenges that they give you. It’s great.”
Harry’s comments align with what he and Meghan have previously stated. In a 2019 interview with Dr. Jane Goodall for Vogue Magazine, Harry expressed his belief in limiting family size for environmental reasons. He said at the time, “Two, maximum!” to help reduce the strain on the planet’s resources.
Meghan echoed the same sentiment during the 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview, saying, “Two is it,” and confirming that their family felt complete with a son and a daughter.
Why Harry and Meghan are focused on their individual brands
In addition to their family life, Harry and Meghan have been making headlines for their decision to take on separate projects. While the couple has always been seen as a united brand, PR experts believe their individual paths may be a strategic move.
PR specialist Ed Coram James told the Mirror that their brand as a duo has become “more toxic” since their 2021 Oprah interview, making it harder for them to secure lucrative deals together. He explained:
“To overcome the obstacles of appearing spoiled, arrogant, immature, attention-seeking, aggressive, fight-picking, hypocritical, and incompetent is very tricky. But, it is achievable. The first step in this always had to be to dissociate themselves from the brand that had achieved such labels in the first place.”
Royal expert Phil Dampier also weighed in, suggesting that Meghan is focused on building her American Riviera Orchard lifestyle brand, while Harry is prioritizing his charity work.
“They do seem to be going their separate ways. There’s no evidence that they’re splitting up at the moment personally,” Dampier told The Sun.
What’s next for the Sussexes?
With Harry and Meghan committed to their careers and raising their children, it seems unlikely that they will change their minds about expanding their family. Instead, they continue to shape their legacy outside the royal family, carving out new identities as independent public figures.
For now, their priority remains providing a stable and loving environment for Archie and Lilibet—shielding them from royal drama while ensuring they grow up knowing their heritage.
