Prince William suspected Meghan Markle had plans beyond royal life, expert claims

A royal expert alleges William foresaw Meghan Markle's departure from royal duties even before she married Prince Harry

Prince William suspected Meghan Markle had intentions beyond becoming a lifelong royal member from the outset, according to a recent claim from royal commentator Phil Dampier. This revelation adds context to the ongoing estrangement within the royal family.

Prince William and his younger brother, Harry, have seen their relationship deteriorate dramatically over recent years. Once close, the brothers now reportedly have no communication, and William’s relationship with Meghan Markle appears equally distant.

When Harry began dating Meghan, the royal family was initially cautious but welcoming. Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, who wrote the pro-Sussex biography Finding Freedom, noted that William warmly welcomed Meghan during their first meeting, playfully remarking that he wanted to meet the woman responsible for Harry’s “silly grin.”

Despite the initial warmth, William reportedly harbored concerns from the beginning. According to Dampier, William recognized early signs that Meghan might not intend to stay permanently in royal life.

Did William sense Meghan’s true intentions early?

William was cautious about Meghan’s rapid integration into the royal family. About a year into Harry and Meghan’s relationship, William advised his brother not to rush, reportedly suggesting he “take as much time as needed” to know Meghan better. This advice reportedly angered Harry, leading to early friction between the brothers.

William’s skepticism reportedly stemmed from worries that Meghan was prioritizing personal advancement over the broader responsibilities of royal service, according to an insider cited by the Daily Mail. Nonetheless, William reportedly suppressed these doubts, mindful of Meghan’s challenging transition into royal life.

A royal insider confirms suspicions

Phil Dampier recently spoke to The Sun, referencing conversations reportedly had between Queen Elizabeth II and her confidante, Lady Elizabeth Anson. Anson allegedly told royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith that the late monarch herself had concerns about Meghan’s intentions.

Dampier argued that William’s instincts about Meghan align with what Lady Elizabeth shared. “Meghan never really had any intention of staying in the royal family,” Dampier said, suggesting Meghan saw her marriage as a route to further fame and fortune.

“That’s why they fell out,” Dampier added, emphasizing that confirmation from someone close to the queen adds credibility to these claims.

Uncertain future for Harry and Meghan’s royal relationships

Today, William, Harry, and Meghan’s relationships appear deeply fractured, with little sign of reconciliation. Meghan and Harry stepped away from royal duties in 2020, setting off ongoing tensions with the royal family.

As questions persist around these strained relationships, many wonder if Harry and Meghan will ever fully reconcile with William and the rest of the family.
