Ron Howard calls wife his ‘good luck charm’ and reveals the secret behind their 49-year marriage

Ron Howard, a name synonymous with American film and television, has captivated audiences for decades.

Born on March 1, 1954, in Duncan, Oklahoma, Howard’s career began at the tender age of 18 months when he appeared in his first film, Frontier Woman. By the age of two, he was already performing on stage.

Howard became a familiar face on television as Opie in The Andy Griffith Show from 1960 to 1968, a role that solidified his place in the hearts of viewers nationwide. His parents, both actors themselves, supported his early start in the industry.

He achieved further fame on Happy Days, where he played Richie Cunningham from 1974 to 1984. This role earned him a Golden Globe and opened the door to several successful spin-offs. Howard’s film career also includes notable titles like The Music Man (1962) and American Graffiti (1973), the latter of which also featured stars like Harrison Ford and Richard Dreyfuss.

Cheryl has been a significant figure in Howard’s life, often appearing in cameos in his projects. Howard often credits his long-lasting marriage to strong communication and a bit of luck, highlighting the importance of growing together. Together, they have four children, including actress Bryce Dallas Howard, who is known for her roles in Jurassic World and The Help.
