Mary Trump, a clinical psychologist and niece of Donald Trump, has launched one of her harshest critiques yet of the president, calling his behavior a “reign of idiocy” and questioning his ability to carry out basic tasks. In a recent episode of her YouTube series Trump Trolls Trump, she argued that his mental and emotional state is deteriorating — and that the public should be alarmed.

“Time flies when you’re having a horrible time and when democracy is slowly being strangled by a man who can’t tie his own shoes,” she said.

This isn’t the first time Mary Trump has raised concerns about her uncle’s mental fitness, but her latest remarks are sharper and more direct than before. As speculation grows around Trump’s age, behavior, and recent public appearances, her insider view is adding fuel to the conversation.

Why Mary Trump says Donald Trump is in decline

Referencing a televised segment on MSNBC, Mary noted fears that Trump may be experiencing the early signs of the same cognitive decline that affected his father, Fred Trump Sr., who had Alzheimer’s disease.

“We’re now 166 days into the Trump regime’s reign of terror, reign of confusion, reign of chaos — but also, let’s call it what else it is: a reign of idiocy,” she said.

Mary also mocked Trump’s response at a Florida immigration facility dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz.” When asked about how long detainees would be held, Trump drifted into unrelated topics like New York taxes and office décor.

“The question, you idiot, wasn’t do you like Florida?” she commented.

Mocking narcissism and selling perfume

Mary didn’t hold back when addressing what she described as a blend of cognitive issues and self-absorption.

“Donald is good at very, very few things,” she said. “He has an actually quite decent ability to mix cognitive decline with narcissism. I mean that’s a twofer.”

She ended her commentary by slamming Trump’s latest product: a $249 perfume called “Victory,” sold on Truth Social and featuring a gold statue of the president.

“It is grotesque for the sitting president of the United States to grift off of his office, but here we are,” she said. “The idea of having to guess what that horror smells like is deeply unfair to those of us who are still sane.”

Mary Trump’s words carry both personal and political weight. As a family member and trained mental health professional, her critique is uniquely situated — and intentionally provocative. Whether it changes minds or simply raises the volume on an ongoing debate, her message is clear: in her view, Donald Trump is no longer fit to lead.
