Snoop Dogg shares sad news after losing his grandchild
The rapper opens up with a heartfelt message about his family’s heartbreaking loss
Snoop Dogg is one of America’s best-known rappers, but there’s more to him than music and fame. Behind his public image, Snoop has a rich family life that brings him joy, despite the hardships he’s faced. This story unveils his life as a husband, father, and grandfather, highlighting the close bond he shares with his loved ones.
Born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. on October 20, 1971, Snoop married Shante Broadus in 1997. Together, they have three children—Corde, Cordell, and Cori. Snoop also has a son, Julian, from a previous relationship. Today, his children are adults, and Snoop cherishes his role as a grandfather. In 2007, he showcased this side of his life in the reality show Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood, where he opened up about his family life.
Fatherhood has shaped Snoop in significant ways. He once said, “Ninety percent of rappers grew up without fathers, but you see ninety percent of those rappers becoming fathers to their kids. ” Although he humbly rated himself as “about a 7-plus” as a dad, he shines as a fun-loving, “get-away-with-everything” grandpa. His grandkids call him “Papa Snoop,” a nickname that started when his eldest grandson playfully stumbled over “Snoop.”
But the family hasn’t been without heartbreak. In 2019, they tragically lost Snoop’s grandson, Kai Love, who was only 10 days old. Kai’s parents, Corde and Soraya, found solace in faith and started the Kai Heart Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting families in need and promoting love and community healing.

Through triumph and tragedy, Snoop Dogg’s family life reveals his softer, caring side, showing fans that he’s more than just an entertainer—he’s a family man who treasures each moment with his loved ones.
