Ariana Grande criticizes Trump supporters in new Instagram post

Pop star questions whether Trump’s promises on the economy and policies have truly benefited voters

Ariana Grande has sparked debate online after sharing an Instagram story that directly challenged supporters of President Donald Trump. The post questioned whether Trump’s promises of lower costs and a stronger economy had come at the expense of marginalized groups.

The 31-year-old singer reshared a message from LGBTQ+ activist Matt Bernstein that asked Trump voters to reflect on the trade-offs of his presidency. The post questioned whether insurance premiums, grocery prices, and the broader economy had improved as promised.

It also pressed on a deeper issue: whether those gains were worth the impact on immigrants, transgender people, and free speech.

“Has the widespread suffering of others paid off for you in the way he promised it would, or are you still waiting?” the post read.

Grande’s history of political posts

Grande has often used her social media platforms to speak on politics. In June 2025, she reposted a call from Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to impeach Trump after he ordered a bombing in Iran without congressional approval.

That same month, she shared a meme asking: “Which crimes get people deported, and which get people elected president?”—a reference to Trump’s legal challenges, including his 2024 conviction on 34 counts of falsifying business records and longstanding accusations of sexual misconduct.

Her outspoken criticism has sometimes drawn backlash. Following her latest post, some users even called for her deportation, despite the fact that Grande is an American citizen.

Grande has also voiced her support for Vice President Kamala Harris. During her second hosting of Saturday Night Live, she quipped: “The last time I hosted was in 2016, and we were right on the verge of electing our first female president. So I guess, second time’s a charm.”

When Trump won the presidency in 2016, Grande wrote to her followers: “Holding the hand of every person who is feeling the immeasurable heaviness of this outcome today.”

With more than 370 million Instagram followers, Ariana Grande’s posts rarely go unnoticed. Her willingness to address controversial topics—knowing the criticism she may face—shows her continued role as one of the entertainment industry’s most outspoken voices.
