On November 24, 2025, the North Portico of the White House became the stage for a beloved holiday tradition: the arrival of the official Christmas tree. Pulled by two regal Clydesdales and escorted by handlers in vintage suits, the 18.5-foot Michigan-grown fir from Korson’s Tree Farms made a grand entrance.

But despite the charming scene, all eyes quickly shifted to First Lady Melania Trump.

Wearing a winter-white Dior coat, bold red leather gloves, and plaid Manolo Blahnik stilettos, Melania turned a ceremonial moment into an unexpected fashion showdown.

“She wore her pajama robe,” one user joked.

Another quipped, “White bathrobe and red rubber gloves.”

One commenter went as far as comparing her to a Christmas decoration: “It looks like she’s auditioning to be the angel on top of the tree.”

Still, not everyone agreed. Many fans came to Melania’s defense, praising her sense of style and elegance.

“Melania is rockin’ her plaid stilettos ♥️,” wrote one admirer.

“She has the best shoes. Every. Time,” said another.

Supporters described her as “graceful,” “sophisticated,” and declared, “Elegance is back in the White House.”

While her coat sparked debate, Melania’s newly lightened locks also had people talking. Experts quickly dubbed the refreshed look “cinnamon blonde” — a warm blend of beige and acorn tones with streaks of vanilla blonde.

Hair stylist Suzie McGill praised the shade as a “polished upgrade,” saying it made Melania look radiant without being overdone. Kirsty Judge from the Rush Artistic team agreed, calling it a “luxurious” makeover that perfectly flattered her skin tone.

Despite the glamour, some viewers were reminded of past controversies. The return to the Christmas spotlight stirred memories of 2018, when secretly recorded tapes revealed Melania’s frustration with her holiday duties.

“I’m working … my [expletive] off on the Christmas stuff,” she said in the tapes, which were leaked in 2020 by former friend and adviser Stephanie Winston Wolkoff.

The backlash at the time was intense, and the resurfacing of those comments reopened old wounds for some. Stephanie Grisham, then Melania’s chief of staff, slammed the recordings as a betrayal, calling them a “clear attempt at relevance.”

Melania Trump’s appearance reminded everyone that even a routine holiday event can quickly become headline news when fashion and fame collide. Whether you loved the look or questioned it, there’s no denying she knows how to make an entrance.

As one fan put it: “She’s simply gorgeous.”
