The actor completed his studies in film directing at the Bulgarian Film & Theater Academy. His passion for the craft helped him advance in the entertainment world.
Upon graduation, his first significant role was in the 2001 film, The Profession of Arms, directed by Ermanno Olmi, where he portrayed Giovanni delle Bande Nere. Later, he worked on a project also called The Profession of Arms, which became a hit, earning nine awards at the 2002 David di Donatello Awards, including Best Film.
In 2009, the actor transitioned from acting to film production, and went on to co-found a production company called Red Carpet Films. The company achieved great success and made significant contributions to Bulgarian National Television.

Prominent Italian actress Maria Grazia Cucinotta, widely recognized for her performance in the 1999 Bond film The World Is Not Enough, also paid tribute to Jivkov on Instagram. In a heartfelt message translated from Italian, she expressed disbelief at his departure and shared the immense pain his loss has caused. Cucinotta referred to Jivkov as a gentle soul whose struggle resonated with those who cared for him.
Mel Gibson, the director of Christo Jivkov’s most well-known role in The Passion of the Christ, paid tribute to the late actor in a statement.
