Trump says he’ll release MRI results — but admits he doesn’t know what was scanned

The president’s vague update on his health leaves experts skeptical and Americans demanding more transparency

President Donald Trump says he will release his October MRI results, but admits he doesn’t know what part of his body was scanned — a confusing update that has sparked fresh controversy about his health and raised new questions about transparency from the White House.

For months, rumors have swirled about Donald Trump’s health. At 79 years old, any medical procedure involving the president is taken seriously. Earlier this year, people noticed bruises on his hands — which were brushed off as the result of “too many handshakes.” But in October, he had an MRI scan, and that’s when things really took off.

At first, Trump and his team said the MRI was just a normal part of his physical exam at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. But experts were quick to point out that MRIs are not usually done as part of routine check-ups. They’re used to investigate specific problems, like brain, spine, or heart issues.

When asked about the scan recently, Trump surprised many by saying, “I have no idea… What part of the body? It wasn’t the brain because I took a cognitive test and I aced it.”

Experts call out the confusion

Many doctors and health analysts aren’t buying the president’s explanation. Dr. Vin Gupta, a well-known medical analyst, said it’s “nonsensical” to not know which body part was scanned.

“You know when you get an MRI what part of your body is going in the machine. It’s loud, it takes time, and you feel it,” Gupta said in an interview. “There’s no way he wouldn’t know.”

Other experts and former White House doctors have even suggested that Trump and his team could be hiding something about his health. The mystery surrounding the MRI has only fueled more suspicion.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who was Kamala Harris’ running mate in the 2024 election, said he believes the president is “fading physically” and questioned his mental sharpness.

Speaking on NBC’s Meet the Press, Walz said, “This is not normal behavior. It’s not healthy. It’s clear the president is fading physically.”

Trump didn’t take the criticism lightly. On Friday, he lashed out at Walz, using a slur and making a false claim about refugees in Minnesota. His remarks were widely condemned, especially since they came just days after Thanksgiving, a time meant for unity and reflection.

Trump promises to release MRI results

Despite the backlash, Trump told reporters on Sunday that he’s willing to release his MRI results. “If you want to have it released, I’ll release it,” he said, adding once again that the results were “perfect.”

Still, the fact that he won’t clarify what part of his body was scanned continues to leave people puzzled.

When a sitting president has a health scare or even just undergoes testing, the public has a right to know. Leaders are held to high standards because their ability to do the job affects millions of people.

With Trump planning to run for another term, voters deserve clarity — not confusion. Experts say that simply releasing the full medical report, including what was scanned and why, would put the issue to rest. Until then, many will continue to wonder: what really happened during that MRI?

If President Trump truly has “nothing to hide,” full transparency is the best way to prove it. In a time when trust in leaders is shaky, honesty about something as personal — and important — as health could go a long way.

What do you think his MRI scan was for? Should the full report be made public? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
