William Shatner has recently been involved in the production of a documentary about his life called “You Can Call Me Bill”. Despite receiving several offers to do a documentary in the past, he chose to make one now due to his mortality.

Shatner revealed that he does not have long to live, and this fact played a significant role in his decision to participate in the documentary. He further added that the documentary is a way of reaching out to his grandchildren even after his death.

“Whether I keel over as I’m speaking to you or 10 years from now, my time is limited, so that’s very much a factor. I’ve got grandchildren. This documentary is a way of reaching out after I die.”

In a candid discussion about death, 91-year-old actor William Shatner shared his thoughts on how death is often portrayed in movies and TV shows. He stated that actors would typically fall to the ground, their eyes would flicker, and they would slump around before dying, but in reality, that is not how it happens.

Shatner demonstrated how sudden and abrupt death can be by stopping his breath and widening his eyes. He compared the experience to putting down a beloved pet at the vet, where the animal passes away peacefully without any pain or awareness of their passing. Shatner emphasized that death can come unexpectedly to anyone, as in the case of his wife’s brother, who passed away suddenly while walking from one room to another.

The life of William Shatner is the subject of a new film directed by Alexandre O. Philippe, set to debut at the upcoming SXSW Film Festival in Texas. In a 2014 interview with The Guardian, Shatner expressed his joy in being a grandparent and the importance of spending time with his family.

He also mentioned going on holidays with his daughters, from skiing to snorkeling. Shatner made headlines in 2021 when he became the oldest person to fly in space aboard a Blue Origin sub-orbital capsule. Despite any opinions people may have of him, it is undeniable that Shatner is a fantastic actor who has led an incredible life.
