Woman asks people to guess her age – their shocking responses leave her speechless

A simple question about her age leads to surprising reactions that no one expected

In today’s world of filters, makeup, and photo edits, it can be hard to tell what someone really looks like. That’s why one woman’s simple question on TikTok turned into an internet sensation. When she asked people to guess her age, the responses were not what she expected, and the conversation that followed raised interesting points about how we perceive age, especially for women.

Emily Jane, the woman behind the viral TikTok, decided to post a video without any makeup or filters, asking viewers a seemingly innocent question: “How old do I look?” Little did she know, the internet was about to give her a wide range of answers that left her stunned. Some guessed she was in her 40s, others thought she was in her 50s, and one person even guessed she was 58! Emily, however, had just turned 36.

She expressed her shock in a follow-up video, saying, “Do I genuinely look like I’m nearly 60? Like I’m nearly at retirement age?” For Emily, the most surprising part wasn’t just the numbers people guessed, but what those guesses might say about how we see women as they age.

One major factor that seemed to influence people’s guesses was her naturally grey hair. Emily explained that she had stopped dyeing her hair and embraced her grey, which started showing when she was just 19. While some people thought she looked younger than her actual age, many associated her grey hair with being older. “ People think because I’ve got grey hair, I’m over 50,” she said.

But Emily wasn’t discouraged. Instead, she used the moment to point out how social media has affected our views on what women should look like. “I think it is essential to remember that what you see on social media and what you see on television or what you’ve seen in magazines, and people have said this for years, it is not real,” she explained.

Emily’s experience highlights the pressure that many people, especially women, face to maintain a youthful appearance. With the rise of beauty standards shaped by social media, it can be challenging to know what is “normal” anymore. She asked her viewers, “Do you think we have a warped perception of age based on what we’ve been exposed to on social media?” Many viewers agreed that social media often presents a false image of what women should look like at different ages.

@x_emilyjane How Old Am I? Part 4 Totally shocked that people think i look over 60. Cant you tell I’m so much younger?! 😜 #늙음필터 #howoldami #agechallenge #ageing #botox #naturalageing #filter ♬ original sound – emilyjane

However, some argued that the grey hair was simply aging her appearance, not society’s perception. It is just the hair that ages you. Your skin looks great,” one commenter wrote.

In the end, Emily stayed true to herself and embraced her natural look. She encouraged others to question the unrealistic standards they see online and to appreciate the beauty in authenticity.

What do you think? Has social media distorted our view of age, or was it just the grey hair? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
