Beloved news anchor passes away suddenly
Fans and colleagues mourn the unexpected loss of a trusted voice in journalism
The unexpected death of KOLD-TV anchor Ana Orsini, 28, has left her colleagues and community heartbroken. Known for her empathy, quick wit, and passion for helping others, Ana passed away last week from a brain aneurysm.
Ana Orsini, a vibrant and talented news anchor at KOLD-TV in Tucson, Arizona, tragically passed away last week at the age of 28. Her death, confirmed as a result of a brain aneurysm, was announced by her colleague Tyler Butler on Facebook on December 17.
Brain aneurysms, which occur when a blood vessel in the brain weakens and bulges, can lead to devastating consequences if they rupture. Symptoms often include severe headaches, nausea, and blurred vision, but they can sometimes strike without warning.
For those who worked alongside her, Ana’s passing feels both surreal and deeply painful. “It’s so horrible, so sudden,” Butler wrote. “Ana was a force of nature… Her genuine care for everyone around her will be missed.”
A journey from Denver to Tucson
Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Ana pursued her dreams of journalism after graduating from Texas A&M University in 2018. She began her career in Lubbock, Texas, before becoming a morning and midday anchor in Medford, Oregon, where she reported on major wildfires and community stories, including animal rescues—a cause close to her heart.
Ana joined KOLD-TV in June 2023, quickly earning the admiration of her colleagues and viewers alike. Known for her “bottomless empathy” and passion for standing up for the underdog, she had a unique ability to connect with people.
Her love for true crime podcasts, peanut butter M&Ms, and platform Ugg boots highlighted her quirky and down-to-earth personality. Ana also adored her dog, Harley, whom she lovingly called her “baby boy.”
Heartfelt tributes pour in
Ana’s colleagues at KOLD-TV expressed their grief during an emotional broadcast on December 16. Co-anchor Carsyn Currier’s voice broke as she announced Ana’s passing: “Ana has been here at 13 News since June of 2023, and we are devastated by this loss.”
Currier later shared a touching Instagram tribute, describing Ana as a friend who made early morning shifts brighter. “She was not only beautiful, talented, and hilarious, but she was unlike anyone I’ve ever met,” Currier wrote.
Tyler Butler also reflected on Ana’s extraordinary presence, recalling her love for animals, her dedication to family, and her incredible sense of humor. “She was truly one of a kind,” he said.
KOLD-TV anchor Dan Marries added, “Ana, you were one in a trillion; wise beyond your years, full of practical insight, smart, compassionate, quick-witted, and possessed a contagious love for animals, especially dogs.”
Ana Orsini’s sudden death serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment. For those who knew her, Ana’s empathy, humor, and unwavering passion for helping others will remain an enduring legacy.
As her friends and colleagues continue to mourn, they are also celebrating the joy and love Ana brought into their lives. Her impact, both on and off the screen, will not be forgotten.
