Brad Pitt allowed 105-year-old neighbor stay rent-free on his $40 million estate, says elvira
Cassandra Peterson, better known as “Elvira,” sold her house to actor Brad Pitt back in 1994. In a recent interview with People, Peterson shared a surprising detail about Pitt’s role after buying the property.
Pitt, who was 54 at the time, bought the 1.9-acre property for $1.7 million from Peterson and kept it for 30 years before selling it in March. During their conversation, Peterson revealed that not only did she live close to Pitt, but he also became an unexpected tenant for a period.

Pitt’s property expansion led to a series of interesting events, as the actress shared in her interview. He purchased around 22 houses adjacent to his property’s edge whenever they became available, including one owned by a 90-year-old man.
Pitt made a compassionate agreement with the elderly man, allowing him to continue living on the estate after his wife passed away. According to Peterson, Brad allowed the man, John, to stay on the property rent-free until his death, showcasing his kindness and generosity.

“He was very, very kind to the husband. His wife passed away and the husband, John, lived there,” explained Peterson. “I know that Brad allowed him to live there without paying anything until he died.”
The elderly man, John, ended up living much longer than anticipated, reaching the age of 105. Peterson jokingly mentioned that he “just kept living forever,” and imagined that Pitt might have expected him to pass away sooner.
Peterson herself had purchased a house near her previous property, making her Pitt’s neighbor for many years. She described the actor as kind and generous. In one instance, she recalled encountering Pitt while walking her dog. She spotted him in his garage wearing only sweatpants, with boxing gloves on, punching a bag. The sight left her nearly speechless.

“I remember he goes, ‘Hey, how are you?’ and I’m like, ‘Huh?’ I couldn’t talk. I was turning red. I felt like I was fainting,” she continues. “He’s just so stunningly, stunningly handsome — and nice, to top it off.”
The house that Pitt recently sold is the same one where he lived with his former spouse, Angelina Jolie, and their children before the couple separated in 2016. What are your thoughts on Pitt’s gesture of kindness towards the elderly man? Share your opinions in the comments!
