A couple from North Carolina, married since 2008, had their first baby in September 2021. After trying for over ten years, Susie, then-50, and Tony Troxler, then-61, had a beautiful baby girl.

Susie said that even though doctors spoke kindly, they basically told them it wouldn’t happen without a lot of assistance. Yet, despite the odds, the couple now has a baby.

Susie mentioned that like many couples, they thought they’d have a baby soon after marriage. But as years passed, they realized something was wrong. The pair from Greensboro, North Carolina, had many health problems.

Susie had a lot of uterine fibroids and felt she was getting older. Tony also had health problems. Susie said that with their combined issues, having a baby seemed unlikely.

“I had a boatload of uterine fibroids. I was too old, and Tony had some medical issues, so, between the two of us, there was not going to be a baby,” she said.

Getting pregnant at an older age is possible but comes with more risks. For women in their 50s, there’s a higher chance of issues like preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth, and needing a C-section.

The Troxlers sought help from a fertility clinic and tried various treatments to have a baby. Susie shared,“None of that worked, and we were down to our last embryo. They bring me into the ultrasound, and the first thing they said was, ‘Oh, she’s moving!’ I was like, ‘Yes!’”

On September 29, they welcomed their baby girl named Lily.

Tony shared,“I love her so much. Every time I look at her, I feel myself just staring at her. It’s amazing!”

Susie added, “We are thrilled. Sleep-deprived, but totally beyond worth it. She is a miracle baby.”

Best wishes to the happy parents! May Lily bring endless joy and happiness!
