John Goodman, 72, rushed to hospital after on-set accident

Hollywood veteran suffers hip injury while filming with Tom Cruise

Actor John Goodman, 72, was rushed to the hospital after suffering a hip injury on the set of his latest film with Tom Cruise. The accident occurred at Pinewood Studios in the UK, temporarily halting production.

John Goodman, a beloved Hollywood veteran, has been actively working in the film industry for decades. His latest project, a sci-fi thriller titled Judy, features him alongside Tom Cruise and is directed by Oscar-winner Alejandro González Iñárritu. However, filming recently hit a setback when Goodman suffered a hip injury after an unexpected fall while blocking a scene.

Despite the film’s action-packed nature, the incident was not related to a stunt. According to The Mirror, Goodman was taken to the hospital for immediate medical attention. Fortunately, his injury is not believed to be severe, and he is expected to make a full recovery.

“He received immediate medical attention that led to a brief delay in shooting to allow him time to recover. The production resumes shooting next week following John’s full recovery,” a Warner Bros. Pictures spokesperson confirmed.

A highly anticipated film

Judy has been in production for nearly two months and is set for release in October 2026. Along with Goodman and Cruise, the film boasts a star-studded cast, including Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, and Sophie Wilde.

This project also marks Cruise’s return to Warner Bros. Discovery after signing a new deal with the studio. His last collaboration with Warner Bros. was Edge of Tomorrow in 2014. Given Cruise’s track record with major blockbusters like Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning and Top Gun: Maverick, fans are eagerly anticipating his latest film.

John Goodman’s health journey

Goodman, an Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actor, has been open about his past struggles with depression, anxiety, and alcohol addiction. He sought help in 2007 and has remained sober ever since.

In addition to overcoming addiction, he made significant lifestyle changes to improve his health. Once weighing nearly 400 pounds, Goodman adopted a Mediterranean-style diet and committed to regular exercise, ultimately losing over 100 pounds.

“This didn’t happen overnight — it’s been an ongoing process,” his trainer Mackie Shilstone told the New York Post. “There needs to be strategic planning. This time, he wanted to do it.”

A challenging year for Goodman

This injury is just one of several difficulties Goodman has faced recently. Earlier this year, his home in Pacific Palisades was destroyed in a fire, adding to an already tough period. Fans are rallying behind him, wishing him a speedy recovery and hoping for smoother times ahead.

With his resilience and determination, it’s likely that Goodman will be back on set soon, continuing his remarkable career in Hollywood.
