Mark Wahlberg shares video of him leaving church—reveals what he’s giving up for Lent
Mark Wahlberg has shown that he values faith, as he has been open about its significance in his life. Though he is a well-known celebrity with a successful career, he remains an inspiration to others through his family-oriented lifestyle.
However, his life wasn’t always as polished as it is now. He experienced a difficult youth while growing up in Boston in the 70s and 80s, where he was involved in several racially-motivated assaults.
When he was 16, Mark committed a robbery at a convenience store which led to convictions for assault and theft. He spent some time in jail and used the experience to turn his focus towards his faith.

According to him, this helped him through the tough times and set him on a better path. Mark stated that he made the decision to change himself and worked hard to overcome the obstacles that came his way. He wanted to prove to others that he was serious about changing his ways, and that he was capable of doing so through his actions.
“I had to make the choice personally, and then I had to focus on my faith,” Mark told People.
“And my faith has really allowed me to overcome a lot of things. And hard work. You know, nothing comes easy especially when you’ve got your back against the wall and you’ve got a lot going against you. But I wanted to prove to people through my actions, and not my words, that I was going to change.”
Mark Wahlberg is married to a former Victoria Secret model and has four children. He has starred in many big movies, including Ted, Planet of the Apes (2001), and Transformers. Wahlberg attributes much of his success to his belief in God. He has previously mentioned that he prays every day for the strength to be a good parent, servant, and spouse.
On Ash Wednesday, Wahlberg was seen leaving his local church, and he shared a message with his followers on Facebook. In the video clip, Wahlberg revealed his plans for observing Lent in an unconventional way. He explained that instead of giving up something for Lent, as is tradition, he plans to do more instead of less this year.
Wahlberg’s decision to approach Lent in this way shows his dedication to his faith and his desire to give back to others. It’s a reminder that even small acts of kindness and service can make a big difference in the world. “More love, more peace, more acceptance, more caring, and more kindness,” Wahlberg said. “Have a beautiful Lent season. God bless you all.”
