Comedian and ‘dog listener’ Tony Knight dies in tragic accident
Tony Knight, a well-known comedian and ‘dog listener,’ passed away in a tragic accident at the Rock ‘n’ Cars Festival in Lavaur, France.
Knight, originally from Britain but living in Australia, died in June at the age of 54. His family confirmed his passing to Fox Digital News, describing him as a fit, healthy, and happy individual who had a zest for life.
“He was having the time of his life,” a family member said. “He was fit, healthy, happy and had everything going for him, he was charismatic, funny, passionate and so very loved by [his partner] Hayley, his family and his friends all over the world.”
Local authorities are investigating the accident that led to his injuries and subsequent death.
Fans and friends expressed their condolences on social media. One Facebook user wrote, “Tragic incidents are often difficult to hear about. It’s important to remember how much happiness and laughter his comedy brought to so many people.”
Another added, “It’s insane that you don’t know when or how you’ll spend your final day on earth. Truly mind-boggling. Unusual incidents.” A third person shared, “May your love rest peacefully. My heartfelt sympathies to your friends and family”
In memory of Tony, his partner Hayley Wright has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral and hospital expenses. By July 5, the fundraiser had raised over $8,000 of its $20,000 goal.
Tony Knight was preparing for a UK comedy tour before his untimely death. He was also known for his work with dogs, calling himself a “dog listener.” According to Hayley’s sister, Tony helped people worldwide communicate better with their pets.
The comedian was set to perform a series of shows in the UK called “Mad Dogs and an Englishman,” which was also scheduled to appear at the Edinburgh Fringe. The show was advertised as “the world’s first-ever comedy show about dog behavior. Stand up (and sit).”
Our thoughts are with Tony’s family and friends during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
