Eric Per Sullivan, who played Dewey in “Malcolm in the Middle” is all grown up

The TV show Malcolm in the Middle, which aired 21 years ago, still brings nostalgic feelings to many due to its humor. The show’s 151 episodes had an average of 15 million viewers, which is not surprising given how entertaining it was.

The plot focused on 14-year-old Malcolm, who was the third of four brothers in his family. He had an IQ of 165 and was the smartest member of his household, but his family didn’t quite comprehend him.

Linwood Boomer, the creator of the TV show Malcolm in the Middle, drew inspiration from his own life. Despite being a troublemaking kid, Boomer’s mother had a humorous reaction to the pilot episode, saying his IQ wasn’t 165.

Fox was initially hesitant about the series, but president Doug Herzog believed it had potential as a unique addition to their programming. Herzog invested heavily in promoting the show, which paid off as Malcolm in the Middle became a success.

Malcolm in the Middle was a show that helped its cast members gain recognition, including Frankie Muniz who played Malcolm, Bryan Cranston who portrayed Malcolm’s father Hal, Christopher Masterson as the eldest brother Francis, Jane Frances Kaczmarek in the role of Lois, and Erik Per Sullivan as Dewey.

The show received 33 Emmy nominations and seven Golden Globe nominations, ultimately winning seven Emmys.

Following the conclusion of the show, some actors ventured into other film projects, while others pursued different professions. Eric Per Sullivan, who was only 9 years old at the start of the series, acted in every episode and often outshone the cast with his remarkable talent. Nowadays, he prefers a low-key lifestyle and avoids being in the public eye.

Eric appeared in the movies Unfaithful (2002) and Christmas with the Kranks. He also lent his voice to characters in Finding Nemo and Arthur and the Invisibles. However, according to IMBD, he hasn’t pursued acting since then.

Eric attended Mount Saint Charles Academy in Rhode Island before transferring to Phillips Exeter Academy. In 2009 to 2010, he studied at the University of Southern California (USC).

Despite his significant physical transformation since his role as Dewey and his more recent photos, Eric still maintains his charming personality. During his time on set, Eric formed close bonds with the entire cast, and they hope to reunite for a sequel in the future.
