Sally Field chooses to remain single after two divorces—30 years later, she’s still content with her decision

In a world where many once believed a woman’s joy depended solely on marriage, times have evolved, and now there’s a clearer understanding that being single isn’t the same as feeling lonely.

Sally Field, a renowned actress with two Oscars, is a shining example of this change. For nearly three decades, she has embraced her single life, finding happiness in her work, hobbies, and family.

Field began her acting career early, starring in the TV show “Gidget.” Despite her success, her personal life was challenging, largely due to a tough childhood that left her feeling alone. This influenced her relationships, often drawing her to domineering partners.

She first married Steven Craig, a producer, in 1968, and they had two sons, Peter and Eli. However, after seven years, they divorced. Then, in the late 1970s, Field had a five-year, on-off relationship with actor Burt Reynolds.

Her second marriage to Alan Greisman in 1984 brought her a third son, Sam, but ended in divorce ten years later. After her second divorce, Field chose to focus on her children and career instead of seeking romantic love.

Field is extremely proud of her sons, whom she describes as kind, loving, and talented. She shared her pride and support for them in a 2014 letter advocating for gay rights.

Becoming a mother was a pivotal moment for Field. It helped her heal from past traumas and learn self-love and care. Now a grandmother to five, she enjoys spending quality time with her grandchildren. At 77, Field is content with her life and has no desire to remarry.

Field finds joy in solitary activities like embroidery, reading, and gardening. She believes that being comfortable with oneself is a form of happiness. As Field puts it, being alone can be wonderful if you’re at peace with yourself.

Field’s story is inspiring. She has learned to put her wellbeing and self-love before societal expectations of romance and marriage. Her journey encourages us to prioritize our happiness and wellbeing too.
