Twin sisters give birth to newborn girls on their birthday 90 minutes apart
The bond between siblings is a unique and irreplaceable connection. When shared experiences and joys are multiplied by having a brother or sister, it makes the experience even more special.
This is something that twin sisters Autum Shaw and Amber Tramontana know all too well, as they have been inseparable since childhood. Recently, the sisters made headlines for an extraordinary event – both giving birth to healthy baby girls on the same day.
On October 29th, 2020, their 33rd birthday, the sisters delivered their babies 90 minutes apart from one another at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. Both babies were delivered by the same doctor, Dr. George Vick.
The hospital was amazed when both babies were born within 90 minutes of each other, with Charleston weighing in at 9 lbs., 4 oz, and Blakely at 7 lbs., 2 oz. The hospital shared a photo of the twin sisters holding their newborns on their social media page with the caption, “Double the sweetness and double the love! ❤️❤️ It was a special day here this week at Fort Sanders Regional when identical twins Autum and Amber delivered their baby girls, Charleston and Blakely, within 90 minutes of each other. To top it all off, it was Autum and Amber’s birthday! 🎂”
The bond between Amber and Autum is incredibly strong. Despite growing into adulthood, the sisters have remained close and have always been by each other’s side. They both attended the same college for their undergraduate and graduate degrees, and subsequently both became registered nurses. They even went on to qualify as nurse practitioners together.
In 2018, both sisters gave birth to sons just ten weeks apart. Interestingly, despite the time gap, the boys were born with identical weights and lengths.
When Autum was trying for her second child, she, unfortunately, suffered a miscarriage. While she was devastated, she now believes that it was all part of a greater plan. Shortly after her loss, she became pregnant again. The sisters were overjoyed when they discovered that they were both pregnant at the same time and were even more surprised to learn that they had the same due date!
“After our miscarriage, we struggled with ‘Why did we have to go through this?’” says Autum, “But we knew that God had a plan for us,” she adds. Amber shared her experience of praying for twins, but now she believes that God had a different plan and gave her a better way for her baby to have a companion.
When the twin sisters had their sons in 2018, it was the elder twin, Autum, who went into labor first. However, when they both became pregnant again, it was a surprise to everyone when the younger twin, Amber, was the first to start experiencing labor.
Both sisters gave birth in rooms next to each other, and according to Autum, the babies formed an instant connection with one another. She described it as if they had already spent nine months in the womb together.
The twin mothers are overjoyed that their daughters have each other and believe that Charleston and Blakely will share a bond that is similar to the one shared by their moms.
The connection between Amber and Autum is incredibly touching and it is we hope that their relationship will be passed down to their children.
