Kirk Cameron leaves California for Tennessee citing safety concerns—‘We don’t feel safe anymore’

Actor Kirk Cameron, known for his role in “Growing Pains,” has left California, citing the state’s divisive atmosphere and long-standing directional shift.

Cameron and his family have now settled in Tennessee, a move motivated in part by the presence of his three grown children who live there and his desire for a place with a “healthy freedom mindset.”

Seeking Freedom and Community

Cameron expressed concerns about California’s economic challenges and social divisions. He suggests that for those facing similar issues and who prioritize values like faith, family, and patriotism, Tennessee offers a more suitable environment. “If people are experiencing serious economic problems and division and they want to be around people like they think who are all about God, family, and country,” Cameron noted, “Tennessee might be the place for them.”

A Growing Exodus from California

Tennessee has become a popular destination for many former Californians, a trend that Cameron has observed firsthand. “It’s shocking how many Californians are here. And when I see them in the grocery store, I tell them, ‘Don’t California our Tennessee,’” he joked.

Cameron’s sister, Candace Cameron Bure, has also relocated to Tennessee, citing reasons of safety and security. They join a list of celebrities who have left California, including Mark Wahlberg, Sylvester Stallone, and YouTube podcaster Dave Rubin, who moved to Florida, calling California a “dystopian nightmare.”

Tennessee’s Appeal

Despite the influx of Californians, Cameron believes Tennessee maintains its appeal with “good wholesome values and, equally as important, good whiskey,” making it a desirable place to live.
